Now providing Corneal Cross Linking

Dr. Abraham is one of the only board certified ophthalmologists in the area that provides the corneal cross linking, an FDA approved protocol for Keratoconus.

What is keratoconus?

Keratoconus, often referred to as ‘KC’, is an eye condition in which the cornea weakens and thins over time, causing the development of a cone-like bulge and optical irregularity of the cornea. Keratoconus can result in significant visual loss and may lead to corneal transplant in severe cases.

What are the symptoms of keratoconus?

A rare condition, keratoconus typically first appears in individuals who are in their late teens or early twenties, and may progress for 10-20 years, and then slow or stabilize. Each eye may be affected differently.

In the early stages of keratoconus, people might experience:

  • blurring of vision
  • distortion of vision
  • increased sensitivity to light
What is corneal crosslinking?

Cross-linking is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure for the treatment of progressive keratoconus. iLink FDA-approved cross-linking combines the use of prescription eye drops, Photrexa® Viscous (riboflavin 5’-phosphate in 20% dextran ophthalmic solution), Photrexa® (riboflavin 5’-phosphate ophthalmic solution), and ultra-violet A (UVA) light from the KXL® system to create new collagen cross-links and leads to the stiffening of the cornea. The goal of the procedure is to stiffen the cornea to slow or prevent further progression of the condition and preserve your vision.

Am I a candidate for corneal crosslinking?

Dr. Abraham and his staff will perform a thorough eye exam to determine if you are a suitable candidate.  Schedule an appointment to get started.

Patient experience

  • I was referred to Dr. Abraham by my ophthalmologist, I am not a patient of Dr Abraham. He was more than willing to see me on a Sunday afternoon for my situation. I was completely amazed that he would see someone on a Sunday afternoon who was not one of his patients. He was very informative and took time to explain what my situation was and what to do. I wasn't a patient of Dr. Abraham before but I am now! Thanks again Dr. Abraham for seeing me on your day off! Dave Barnes

Great physician. I am a health care provider and can honestly say that Dr. Abraham is an amazing physician. My wife had a case of shingles on her cornea and Dr. Abraham treated her and saved her vision. He was compassionate and extremely open with her. She was not feeling good and he assured her that she would be fine. He explained everything. Dr. Abraham is a one of a kind in today's world and we really appreciate it. My wife is doing great 2 weeks later thanks to Dr. Abraham's treatment. I highly recommend him as our ophthalmologist. His office staff is very friendly. I am glad we were referred to Dr. Abraham by our optometrist. Thank you for taking care of my wife!

Today was my first time going to Abraham Eye Center to check if I’m a LASIK candidate. Let me tell you how grateful I feel to have found this location. Knowing I’m a very picky person when it comes to medical or any other issues. Dr. Abraham is very detailed and knows what he’s doing, not like other doctors I’ve gone too in the past that don’t take the time too see what’s actually wrong. Thank you so much again Dr. Abraham and his amazing staff, I will be seeing you guys soon again 🙂 I give you guys more then a 5 star if I could.

  • Dr. Abraham is a fantastic ophthalmologists. I am 24 hours out of my Lasik procedure and can already see 20:15 in both eyes. I was extremely nervous to have this procedure but he kept me calm and reassured me every step of the way. He is the ultimate professional, extremely knowledgeable and has a very calming manner. He also uses the state of the art lasers and follows up with post op checks and calls to make sure you are comfortable and you are recovering properly. I highly recommend him.

I don’t usually post reviews, but this one is worth the time to write out. My partner came down with severe eye pain after putting in bad contacts and we had called 4-5 different ophthalmologists only for us to be told we had to wait at least a month for an appointment. Dr. Abraham was the only one who had same day availability for us, which turned out to be just what my partner needed because he turned out to have corneal ulcers, and he very likely would have gone blind if he had waited another day. From the moment he was seen by Dr. Abraham, he went straight to work contacting who he needed to in order to help him and even visited us at the ER the first day to make sure he was being treated accordingly. My partner is now slowly but surely on the mend, thanks to Dr. Abraham. He definitely eased the anxiety I had for the health of my partner’s vision and really takes the time to build rapport with his patients and puts in effort to provide the best care he can. Definitely recommend him to anyone looking for the best of eye care. It may be a bit of a drive, but for sure worth it. Thank you Dr. Abraham!

Dr. Abraham was super friendly. I discovered he came back to his clinic just to see me given there was a chance the condition could be serious of nature. He really cares about his clients. He wasn't rushed and took his time with me even though his office had closed hours before. He thoroughly explained everything to me. Overall really great and I definitely recommend him if you are looking for a great ophthalmologist.

  • My wife needed cataract surgery in both eyes. We met with Dr. Abraham, and we were impressed with his knowledge as well as his confident demeanor. We bothered him with 1000 questions and he was always patient, accommodating and clear in his responses. We elected to do the laser and chose the PanOptix lens. The surgery on her first eye was last week, and as of one week later she is 20/20 in that eye. She is THRILLED The second eye is scheduled for next week, and we are confident that Dr. Abraham will again perform the surgery with great success. Stay tuned for the follow up. So far, so GREAT!

He deserves 10 stars! I was experiencing double-vision and went to the ER. The attending doctor ordered a CT scan that revealed a small mass encompassing the pituitary gland and displacing the left optical nerve. They suggested to and my G/P ordered an MRI for a closer look. I felt a need to see an ophthalmologist before the scan in case there was anything else to be considered. My regular ophthalmologist was out of town, so I needed another ASAP. I saw the outstanding reviews for Dr. Abraham and called his office to see if he could possibly see me that day as the scan was scheduled for the following morning. I told his receptionist my situation, she went to talk to him, and his response was to get in there at 2PM as he wanted to examine me. I came in, and his assistant put me through a battery of tests. Then, Dr. Abraham reviewed in detail the CT scan report I gave him, his assistant’s tests, and then did a battery of tests himself. I was so impressed with his thoroughness in wanting to understand my scenario. Then he told my wife and I that if I was not already scheduled for the MRI the next morning, that he would admit me to Henry Mayo that afternoon for more imaging. He was very concerned that the issue I was having could be the result of pressure on the cranial nerve 3 – and there could be a hidden aneurism causing pressure that the CT did not disclose, and likely a normal MRI would not. He said I needed to have added an MRA (checks out arteries) and an MRI of the orbit area for the next morning’s imaging. My wife and I left, called my G/P (who did not immediately return my call), and opted to go back to ER in Burbank. The attending doc there re-examined my eye functions, and then agreed to add the additional scans. Later, I spoke with my G/P (who initially had ordered the MRI after reviewing the CT), explained Dr. Abraham’s life-threatening concern for me (if there was, in fact, an aneurism) and he also agreed with amending the orders. I had four (4) scans (3 with and without contrast) the following morning, including the ones that Dr. Abraham had me add. Fortunately, there was no aneurism, but I am so grateful that he cared enough about me to insist that I not overlook what could have been a life-ending situation. Without a doubt, Dr. Abraham will be our family ophthalmologist from now on. He has my and my wife’s highest respect for his knowledge, professionalism – and even more important – his demonstrated concern for his patient’s well-being. All the doctors now feel that the issue is elated to facial shingles (not of the eye). But I was oblivious to the existence of the small mass and it was only discovered via the scans! We feel so fortunate to have found Dr. Abraham at our critical time of need – and his willingness to immediately take a substantial and defining role in my care.
