Now providing Corneal Cross Linking

Dr. Abraham is one of the only board certified ophthalmologists in the area that provides the corneal cross linking, an FDA approved protocol for Keratoconus.

What is keratoconus?

Keratoconus, often referred to as ‘KC’, is an eye condition in which the cornea weakens and thins over time, causing the development of a cone-like bulge and optical irregularity of the cornea. Keratoconus can result in significant visual loss and may lead to corneal transplant in severe cases.

What are the symptoms of keratoconus?

A rare condition, keratoconus typically first appears in individuals who are in their late teens or early twenties, and may progress for 10-20 years, and then slow or stabilize. Each eye may be affected differently.

In the early stages of keratoconus, people might experience:

  • blurring of vision
  • distortion of vision
  • increased sensitivity to light
What is corneal crosslinking?

Cross-linking is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure for the treatment of progressive keratoconus. iLink FDA-approved cross-linking combines the use of prescription eye drops, Photrexa® Viscous (riboflavin 5’-phosphate in 20% dextran ophthalmic solution), Photrexa® (riboflavin 5’-phosphate ophthalmic solution), and ultra-violet A (UVA) light from the KXL® system to create new collagen cross-links and leads to the stiffening of the cornea. The goal of the procedure is to stiffen the cornea to slow or prevent further progression of the condition and preserve your vision.

Am I a candidate for corneal crosslinking?

Dr. Abraham and his staff will perform a thorough eye exam to determine if you are a suitable candidate.  Schedule an appointment to get started.

Patient experience

  • Dr. Abraham was great. We were referred to him by our optometrist for a more detailed exam and some tests. He was quick and thorough. He explained everything very well showing us the pictures of my son’s eyes that he had taken.

  • I am glad I was referred to Dr. Abraham by my optometrist for narrow angles. Had a pleasant experience! I was able to get an appointment with him the very next day. He has all the required latest equipment right in his office! He did thorough testing and took the time to show the images and explain the results. He informed me of the options i have and the risks associated with each. I'll be going to him for LPI surgery soon. He is very knowledgeable, professional and caring. I highly recommend him!

  • I found Dr. Abraham by doing a search of ophthalmologists in the Santa Clarita area and I chose to see him based on the reviews I saw on Google. I have been dealing with a condition that has caused me to have blurry vision. My work asked me to be cleared by an ophthalmologist and Dr. Abraham was the first doctor of three in regards to this condition that I saw who explained to me what the cause of the condition was by examining and recording his assessment on video and showing it to me. It really helped me understand what I needed to do to prevent the condition from happening again and treatment options that were available to me. He even began a surgical referral if needed. Dr. Abraham was very thorough, knowledgeable, professional, and he made me feel comfortable during my visit. I highly recommend him if you are in need of an ophthalmologist! Thanks Dr. Abraham!

  • This was the first time I visited Dr. Abraham’s office in Santa Clarita. The whole experience was not only pleasant, satisfactory but very educational. Dr. Abraham took the time examining and explaining my eye situations and gave me detailed instructions for what I need to do for my eyes at home. He also give options for future treatment if needed. I was very impressed and would highly recommend Dr. Abraham to any eye patients.

I was very impressed with Dr. Abraham. He saw me promptly, did a thorough examination, and spent time explaining all the results to me. What a difference from the last ophthalmologist with whom I had an appointment. He is a solo practice physician who is relatively new to Santa Clarita and I hope he's around for a long time.I will certainly return to Dr. Abraham for my cataract surgery when it's time, and I highly recommend him!.

  • He deserves 10 stars! I was experiencing double-vision and went to the ER. The attending doctor ordered a CT scan that revealed a small mass encompassing the pituitary gland and displacing the left optical nerve. They suggested to and my G/P ordered an MRI for a closer look. I felt a need to see an ophthalmologist before the scan in case there was anything else to be considered. My regular ophthalmologist was out of town, so I needed another ASAP. I saw the outstanding reviews for Dr. Abraham and called his office to see if he could possibly see me that day as the scan was scheduled for the following morning. I told his receptionist my situation, she went to talk to him, and his response was to get in there at 2PM as he wanted to examine me. I came in, and his assistant put me through a battery of tests. Then, Dr. Abraham reviewed in detail the CT scan report I gave him, his assistant’s tests, and then did a battery of tests himself. I was so impressed with his thoroughness in wanting to understand my scenario. Then he told my wife and I that if I was not already scheduled for the MRI the next morning, that he would admit me to Henry Mayo that afternoon for more imaging. He was very concerned that the issue I was having could be the result of pressure on the cranial nerve 3 – and there could be a hidden aneurism causing pressure that the CT did not disclose, and likely a normal MRI would not. He said I needed to have added an MRA (checks out arteries) and an MRI of the orbit area for the next morning’s imaging. My wife and I left, called my G/P (who did not immediately return my call), and opted to go back to ER in Burbank. The attending doc there re-examined my eye functions, and then agreed to add the additional scans. Later, I spoke with my G/P (who initially had ordered the MRI after reviewing the CT), explained Dr. Abraham’s life-threatening concern for me (if there was, in fact, an aneurism) and he also agreed with amending the orders. I had four (4) scans (3 with and without contrast) the following morning, including the ones that Dr. Abraham had me add. Fortunately, there was no aneurism, but I am so grateful that he cared enough about me to insist that I not overlook what could have been a life-ending situation. Without a doubt, Dr. Abraham will be our family ophthalmologist from now on. He has my and my wife’s highest respect for his knowledge, professionalism – and even more important – his demonstrated concern for his patient’s well-being. All the doctors now feel that the issue is elated to facial shingles (not of the eye). But I was oblivious to the existence of the small mass and it was only discovered via the scans! We feel so fortunate to have found Dr. Abraham at our critical time of need – and his willingness to immediately take a substantial and defining role in my care.

Dr. Abraham was referred to us by our current ophthalmologist to further treat my 7yo for her cornea. Although he is not a pediatric ophthalmologist, he was wonderful enough to take my daughter in for a consultation and explain what is going on and what needs to be done to treat my daughter. He was very knowledgeable, experienced, professional and friendly. He was wonderful with our daughter and made her feel comfortable during the exam. Thank you Dr. Abraham!

Dr. Abraham was great. He was able to control my eye's high pressure with the first prescription. You can tell all the equipment for testing in the office is high quality. Very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the type of glaucoma I have. Glad I found him. Will keep coming to his office in the future.

I don’t usually post reviews, but this one is worth the time to write out. My partner came down with severe eye pain after putting in bad contacts and we had called 4-5 different ophthalmologists only for us to be told we had to wait at least a month for an appointment. Dr. Abraham was the only one who had same day availability for us, which turned out to be just what my partner needed because he turned out to have corneal ulcers, and he very likely would have gone blind if he had waited another day. From the moment he was seen by Dr. Abraham, he went straight to work contacting who he needed to in order to help him and even visited us at the ER the first day to make sure he was being treated accordingly. My partner is now slowly but surely on the mend, thanks to Dr. Abraham. He definitely eased the anxiety I had for the health of my partner’s vision and really takes the time to build rapport with his patients and puts in effort to provide the best care he can. Definitely recommend him to anyone looking for the best of eye care. It may be a bit of a drive, but for sure worth it. Thank you Dr. Abraham!

  • We were referred to Dr Abraham from our eye doctor to follow up on my son’s vision. He had amazing bedside manners with his patients and was very thorough in explaining everything he saw. We received great advice and recommendations to see a glaucoma specialist to start watching my son’s eyes to track changes. I’d recommend him to anyone looking for an honest doctor, whose great with both kids and parents.

Today was my first visit at this place! The staff at the front desk was Extremely nice and courteous, make you feel comfortable asking questions and seem happy to do so. Dr. Abraham was nice as well, its obvious he has been doing his job for a long time, he completed my wife exam swiftly as well as making us feel comfortable and confident with his prognosis. If you’re looking for a new optometrist to go I would definitely recommend this place!!
